Diary of a Detoxer – Day 26

Well Here I am, only four days away from the 30 day mark! Last week was the first week of the “One Month Pilates Challenge”. Most people had started the detox part a few days before we started the mat classes. The first class went well as we eased into a beginner level mat class. Through the week the intensity increased with everyone turning up a few minute’s early ready to get into it! It is very rewarding looking around at the participants and watching their determination and dedication, because lets face it, this is not for the faint hearted. Getting out of bed in the cooler months, to be at a class at 6.30am 3 times during the week and at 7.30am on a Saturday, shows real commitment to improved health and well being. On top of that, they are detoxing, which is confronting and sometimes life changing. I am very proud of them all. By Saturday I could see real changes in their strength already, (even though most of them said their bodies were tired). They will kill it by the end of this. Well done!

On Saturday after work we decided to go to “O Organic” on Crown st for lunch. It was delicious, if you’re a detoxer doing the challenge and your bored with eating at home, try it out for lunch. They are not open for dinner. Thanks to Sam for reminding me of this place.

You can buy loads of snacks and tinned tomatoes, vege broth ect with no sugar and gluten from “About Life” in Bondi and Rozelle. It’s worth checking out so you don’t get bored. I have discovered a new snack they are called “Kitz 4 seed Crackers”. They go well with Tahini or hummus. I have also bought some brown rice flakes to add to my amaranth in the morning

A friend said to me on the weekend to try not to call it a “detox” when I told her that I wouldn’t go back to eating sugar and wheat. Why not call it nothing and simply say, “I don’t eat wheat”, or “I don’t eat sugar” ect. This way what your really telling yourself is, that it’s not a short-lived experiment, but a change that you have made for good. I like this.
