Pilates For Dancers

MG Pilates also provides a unique service for young dancers and professionals, providing education regarding injury prevention and management. Pilates re-programms old strain patterns and generally improves your dance technique, strength and flexibility. Pilates assists in prolonging the life of a dancer, keeps you strong and builds more awareness with placement and positioning of the body.

Dancers can often focus more on stretching and forget about specific strengthening.This can be detrimental long term as over stretching of the ligaments and joints can lead to imbalance and then injury.

Dance is fasting moving with little room for thinking about positioning of joints on landing from a jump, turn or kick. Pilates slows this process down and brings your awareness to your alignment and strength around the joints and core. Pilates is a thinking person exercise and will re-train muscle recruitment patterning so you are working to your optimum level of fitness without having to think about whilst in movement. A Pilates workout focuses on the core muscles and builds strength from the inside out, not the outside in, making your body stronger. Dance comes from the inside, so should your strength.

We understand that dancers don’t always have the cash to look after themselves, at MG Pilates we offer a discount for studio sessions to dancers and Ausdance members in off peak times.

Off Peak times are between 8.30 and 6pm Monday to Friday. Bring a friend and receive one free session.

Initial consultation $80

Casual Private session: $70

5 private sessions: $325 (7 weeks expiry)
10 private sessions: $620 (3 month expiry)

Casual semi private session (3 people): $38
10 semi private sessions (3 people): $350 (3 month expiry)
20 semi private sessions (3 people): $640 (6 month expiry)
